Research at Neuroscience Center

The research focus of NC is on translational brain plasticity. We carry out research relevant for the human brain both in health and disease, and during development and aging, by applying versatile approaches and modern technology platforms.
Research activity

Neuroscience center aims to make fundamental discoveries about brain functions and translate research findings into improvements in the treatment, prevention and diagnosis of psychiatric and neurological disorders. The research spans across several scales, from stem cell research and molecular neuroscience to systems and cognitive neuroscience in both animal and human models. We have implemented state-of-the-art technologies to increase our understanding via behavioural neuroscience, human and animal brain imaging and electrophysiology, and stem cell-derived human brain cells.

Research events

Come and hear our top neuroscientists discuss timely questions in the context of their research. The events are open to students, postdocs, group leaders, or anyone interested in neuroscience, and science in general.

Helsinki Brain and Mind Research portal

This portal lists PI-level neuroscience researchers and clinicians at the University of Helsinki, Aalto University and the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa.
