We aim to identify and understand interactions shaping the diversity of life and the survival of species. Understanding both the molecular interactions within individuals and the ecological interactions between individuals and populations from deep times to fast adaptation provide the knowledge for future healthy ecosystems.
In this area, the University hosts e.g. the Research Center for Ecological Change (REC) and Thriving Nature profiling project, and has strong links with the Natural Resources Institute of Finland on the Viikki campus and University of Helsinki research stations.
