Neuronal Networks in a Dish by Riikka Äänismaa

It is possible to create neuronal cells and networks from human stem cells and utilize these cultures to model central nervous system diseases.
This image shows human pluripotent stem cell-derived neurons making connections with each other to form a neuronal network. The cells are stained with neuron-specific markers staining the cell processes i.e. neurites (dendrites - green, axons – red, overlay - orange). Blue marks the nuclei of the cells.
