Baby in the Box

Jolly-Dolly -nukke

The Baby in the Box exhibition sheds light on the history of Finnish maternity packages and their development from the original idea to the present product, which has garnered worldwide publicity. Efforts to improve infant wellbeing in Finland as of the 1920s developed over the ensuing decades into the maternity packages still distributed today, containing baby clothing and other items useful for a family with an infant.

The exhibition was on display at the University of Helsinki Think Corner and the Helsinki University Museum from 9 November 2017 to 18 February 2018 as part of the events organised during Finland’s centennial celebrations. The online exhibition is based on the Tarinatallennin tool.
