Accessibility at Kumpula Campus Library

Kumpula Campus Library is located in the Physicum building at Kumpula Campus. The entrance to the Library is on the first floor of the Physicum lobby.

Buses 56 and 506 stop (bus stop no 3597) near the Physicum building entrance on Gustaf Hällströmin katu and Väinö Auerin katu streets.

Other nearby bus and tram stops are located approximately 300 metres from the main entrance of the building, on Kustaa Vaasan katu and Hämeentie streets.

The walk to the Library is uphill along the Väinö Auerin katu as well as the Pietari Kalmin katu and Gustaf Hällströmin katu streets. A steep pedestrian gravel road with a railing runs up to the campus from Kustaa Vaasan katu.

The nearest parking spaces are located in front of the building along Väinö Auerin katu and Gustaf Hällströmin katu. There is no designated disabled parking.

It is possible to transport passengers to the front of the main entrance on Väinö Auerin katu. The stairs from Gustaf Hällströmin katu do not have a ramp.

There is direct ground-level access to the entrance of the Physicum building from Väinö Auerin katu.

It may be difficult to enter through the two heavy doors. For assistance with the doors, please call the lobby porter on 02941 50722, or library information on 02941 50881 to agree on assistance with the doors in advance.

The spacious premises of the Library are spread over two floors and the lift is next to the entrance.

Accessible toilets are located on the second floor of the Library and in the lobby of the Physicum building, to the left of the entrance, by the coat racks.

Textbooks and other material for loan, the Library’s information and lending services as well as the self-service checkout and return desks can be found on the first floor. The library terminals in the service area can be operated both sitting and standing up. The Library has multi-function devices for copying, printing and scanning.

Computers requiring University user accounts are available on both floors, on regular-height desks. The second floor has four electrically adjustable desks without fitted computers.

Library staff will be happy to help you with moving around the Library as well as with using the collections and equipment.
