Researcher facilities in Kaisa House are available for booking by researchers and teachers of the University of Helsinki.

  • Room 6034 on the sixth floor of Kaisa House accommodates one to four people.
  • Room 7046 on the seventh floor of Kaisa House accommodates two to eight people.

You can also use the facilities without booking, but those with a booking are always given priority.

Bookings can only be made by the University's researchers and teachers. The facilities are booked through the Office365 calendar. Names of the facilities in the Office365 calendar:

In Kaisa House, the microfilm reader is located on the fourth floor in room 4044. Lense for microfilm reader is available from the customer service desk on the third floor by giving your library card as a deposit.

Customers from outside the University of Helsinki can book a microfilm reader from Kaisa House customer service or via email at

An A3 colour scanner and a computer with Photoshop software are located on the fifth floor of Kaisa House in room 5041. The colour scanner is not available to customers from outside the University of Helsinki.

A University of Helsinki user account is required to access the computer. 

Students and staff of the University of Helsinki can book the equipment in the special work rooms through the University’s Office365 calendar. Name of the device in the Office365 calendar:

You can book a room with your Office365 calendar.

  1. Open the calendar. Double-click the day for which you want to make a booking. When the window opens, press the arrow in the upper right corner.
  2. Click Search for a room or location, and select + Browse more rooms from the drop-down menu.
  3. Type Kaisa-talo, keskusta in the search box.
  4. Choose a suitable researcher room from the drop-down menu. 
  5. The room you have reserved will send an email to confirm or reject your reservation. Please note that the reservation is valid only after the room calendar has confirmed it. Always check the email sent by the room or the equipment. Save the email in case there is a problem with the reservation. 
  6. Your reservation will be rejected if it is too long (more than two hours), the reservation is outside the opening hours, you don't have reserving rights, or if someone else has made a reservation at the same time as you.

  • The room can be booked by University of Helsinki alumni from Monday to Friday between 16.00 and 20.00 and on Saturdays from 11.00 to 17.00.

An accessible work room (6042) is available on the sixth floor of Kaisa House. The work room is primarily intended for customers who use wheelchairs and for customers who wish to work while standing. The room cannot be booked.

The room has reading and study space for one to four people and two easily adjustable electric desks.

The rooms 229, 230 and 231 are available for those who are working on their Master’s thesis. The rooms are located on the second floor and are always unlocked.

The 24h reading room closed in May 2020. As such, the reading room will not be in use even after the renovation of the Info Centre.

If you still have a key card to the 24h reading room, you can return it to the campus library's customer service. After filling out the invoice form at the customer service desk, the library will refund the deposit to your account.
