Mia Jaatsi works as a project planner for the Master’s Programme in Urban Studies and Planning (USP) at the University of Helsinki. Her main responsibilities are course coordination, programme development, communications, activity planning and study guidance. She aims to keep the USP spirit enthusiastic and innovative!
Mia's academic background is in urban geography. Her research interest lies in examining the different aspects of a lively, community-driven city and how diverse open spaces, such as parks, can promote urban life. How people themselves can shape their city, is in the core of her interest. Mia's latest intervention was an EIT Climate-KIC funded project Urban Oasis that examined the reuse of indoor spaces for communal green urban living rooms.
