The Helsinki Collegium organizes dozens of events every year.
Event types at HCAS
The Collegium Lecture is the HCAS’s main annual event and takes place every spring. The speakers are well-known global academic figures. The list of former lecturers includes, inter alia, Carolyn Abbate, Carlo Ginsburg, John Dunn, Joan Scott, Nikolas Rose, Nancy Frazer and Dipesh Chakrabarty. The 2019 Collegium lecture will be given by Daniel Boyarin, historian of religion and professor of Talmudic culture at departments of Near Eastern Studies and Rhetoric at University of California, Berkeley.
We organize four HCAS Symposia during each Academic year. Symposia are proposed and organized by the fellows. They are interdisciplinary in nature and normally include several international invited speakers.
Collegium’s public lecture series is entitled Kollegium Talks and it is held in Finnish at Think Corner. The fall 2018 series (November 12 – December 10) consists of five discussions that probe the concept of CITIZENSHIP.
