Language technology, earlier known as computational linguistics, is a multidisciplinary field studying the technical tools and methods through which human language – spoken and written – can be structured into a form processed by computers. Known application areas of language technology are automatic spelling and grammar checks, as well as automatic speech recognition.

Found in Translation: Natural Language Understanding with Cross-lingual Grounding is an ERC funded project led by Jörg Tiedemann. It will run 2018–2023 within the language technology research group at the University of Helsinki.
