Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are active participants in public debates and key players of civic societies. They monitor legal and political developments in their fields, offer advice and expertise to ministries and other public actors, and campaign for the causes they represent. How do NGOs themselves see their role in society? What are the limits, if any, of their freedom of expression? What is the role of lawyers in NGOs?
