Theater performance, Thursday March 21
As a social programme we are organizing a collective visit to a theater performance at Teater Viirus on the evening of Thursday 21.3. at 19:00. This is an optional evening programme and the ticket costs 12 €. Please sign up for the visit by e-mail latest on Monday March 4th. The ticket can be payed by cash when you arrive at the registration desk.
Teater Viirus
TOINEN LUONTO / DEN ANDRA NATUREN
Toinen Luonto (translates as The Other Nature or Another Nature) is a funny and at the same time melancholic performance about getting used to living, the ethical choices that are hidden in our everyday lives and the moments in life that shake up our habitual behaviour. The performance contemplates our mortality, that we share with all the other living beings.
Unpacking the relationship between humans and animals the performance looks deeper, at ones relationship to the other. How do we perceive the difference between living creatures. What does it mean to own another, is it allowed or even possible? Can you refuse to do so?
Director Anni Klein and sounddesigner Heidi Soidinsalo return using the playback-aesthetic they’ve developed for many years in performances such as Play Alter Native (Viirus, 2012) and WunderKinder (teater 90°, 2016). The visually striking set-design is made by Laura Haapakangas, Jani-Matti Salo and Mark Niskanen.

On the evening of Friday 22.3. at 19:00 we are organizing a conference dinner at the restaurant Block by Dylan. You can buy the ticket for the conference dinner (45 €) online when you register for the conference. The dinner includes buffet dinner with drinks.

Below is a list of recommendations for theater performances to visit on the evening of Saturday 23rd if you are still in Helsinki. You may book the tickets at the theatres' box offices. We strongly recommend booking your tickets as soon as possible, since the performances are likely to sell out early. If you have any problems with booking the tickets we are happy to help you.
Saturday 23.3. 19:00
MARAT/SADE
Three Finnish-Swedish theaters, Klockriketeatern, Sirius Teatern and Teater Mestola, join forces and create their own version of Peter Weiss’ (1916-1982) well-known play. The performance is directed by Juha Hurme, beloved theatre-maker, author and winner of the Finlandia Prize 2017. Hurme shakes the 1960s classic to a new, surprising position, but remains true to the original text in one essential point: music plays one of the main roles in Marat/Sade.

MEDUSAN HUONE
Medusan huone (Medusa’s Room) is a fragmentary performance inspired by the myth of Medusa. It is a subtle and dream-like depiction of gender-related power and the practices of suppression. The piece examines its themes with the aid of music and visual narration.
Medusan huone is written and performed by Saara Turunen, playwright, author and director, whose earlier plays include The Bunny Girl (2007) and The Broken Heart Story (2011).
