The Conference – Gender and Governance II: Gender-sensitive conservative backlash. – provides a forum to discuss changing constellations of changing gender relations and Russia’s case in particular. The conference brings together researchers focusing on Russia’s gender issues, including recent research done on domestic violence and energy security. The conference was planned well in advance, but in the current conditions the discussion of gender relations that influenced the rooting of patriarchal practices at the state level, including authoritarian trend, is of particular importance.
