Track 4: Expanding Extractivisms – Big Data, Financialization, and Intellectual Extractivisms.
This track examines the expansion of extractivism beyond traditional natural resources. This includes, but is not limited to, data extractivism, other digital extractivisms (such as cryptocurrencies), financial extractivism, and intellectual/ontological extractivisms. Papers that analyze data colonialism, extractive systems of datafication, financialization, extractivist structures of world production, or that focus on other resources beyond natural resources are encouraged.
